Position Overview:
Bask is seeking a passionate and innovative Head of Nutrition to enhance the culinary experience at our health and healing-focused retreat center. The Head of Nutrition will lead our culinary vision by creating nourishing, delicious, and diverse menus that reflect our commitment to holistic health and seasonal, local ingredients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Menu Development: Design and implement health-conscious, seasonal menus catering to various dietary preferences (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free) for retreats, workshops, and communal dining.
- Nutritional Education: Lead workshops and discussions on nutrition and mindful eating, engaging and educating guests about the benefits of healthy food choices.
- Local Sourcing: Build relationships with local farmers and suppliers to procure high-quality, seasonal ingredients while promoting sustainability.
- Culinary Leadership: Manage and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes a commitment to quality and overall guest experience.
- Food Safety & Standards: Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations, maintaining rigorous standards of quality and hygiene in meal preparation and service.
- Guest Interaction: Actively engage with retreat participants to provide personalized dining experiences, gather feedback, and adjust offerings accordingly.
- Culinary Events: Organize and oversee interactive cooking classes, themed dinners, and special culinary events that align with retreat objectives and foster guest engagement.
Qualifications:
- Culinary Education: Culinary Arts degree or certification in Nutrition or related fields preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a culinary leadership role, preferably in a wellness or retreat setting, with a proven track record of creating successful meal programs for groups.
- Nutritional Expertise: Strong understanding of holistic nutrition, dietary restrictions, and healthy cooking practices.
- Creativity & Innovation: Ability to create diverse menus that are both health-oriented and appealing to a wide range of tastes.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire kitchen teams, emphasizing collaboration and professional development.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on engagement and education to enhance guest experiences.

The Role
As our Property Maintenance & Operations Assistant, you will work directly with the Property Manager to handle day-to-day care and upkeep of our 40+ acre retreat center, including multiple guest buildings, lodging cabins, communal spaces, gardens, trails, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on buildings and facilities (painting, minor carpentry, drywall repair, door/hardware fixes, etc.)
• Assist with basic plumbing and electrical tasks (unclogging drains, replacing fixtures, changing ballasts/light fixtures, troubleshooting outlets, etc.)
• Operate and maintain equipment including skid steer, tractor, mowers, chainsaws, UTVs, and small engines
• Diagnose and repair equipment as needed (mechanical aptitude is a big plus)
• Maintain grounds: mowing, weed-eating, pruning, leaf blowing and trail clearing
• Care for gardens and landscaping: planting, weeding, mulching and watering (general plant knowledge is a big plus)
• Firewood splitting/stacking and irrigation management
• Monitor all buildings and spaces daily, quickly addressing any issues or safety concerns
• Keep shop, tools, and storage areas clean and organized
• Assist with set-up and tear-down for retreats and events (moving tables/chairs, outdoor set-ups, etc.)
• Occasionally respond to after-hours emergencies
Who You Are
• A proactive self-starter who sees what needs to be done and does it without constant supervision
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Physically fit and able to lift 50–75 lbs regularly, work on ladders, and be on your feet most of the day
• Practical experience in general maintenance, landscaping, or construction (professional or personal projects both count)
• Comfortable and safe using power tools and equipment
• Basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical skills (you don’t need to be a licensed pro, but you can confidently handle common repairs)
• Experience operating a skid steer/loader or tractor is a strong plus
• Knowledge of plants, trees, and garden care is a big advantage
• Positive, guest-friendly attitude – you may interact with retreat guests from time to time
• Reliable transportation and ability to live within a reasonable commute
